Car Maintenance for Rainy Day Driving

For most people, you have to get up and drive somewhere almost every day, despite the weather. Although you cannot specifically outfit your car for driving in the rain, there are some maintenance tips that you should follow to keep you safe should you have to drive in the rain.

First, one of the most important safety features for rainy weather is your windshield wipers. Your windshield protects you from the physical impact of the rain, yet you can still lose visibility in the rain if the drops build up on your windshield. Windshield wipers can wipe away these water droplets as slowly or quickly as you need, clearing your field of vision so that you can still see. However, wipers are not infallible, and they should be replaced regularly. If you live in a hot, dry climate, you may have to replace your wipers  more often because the heat can dry out the rubber blade on your wiper, disabling it from brushing away the water.

Next, your tires are also key for gripping wet pavement. When it first starts raining, or after a light rain, the water lifts up the oil, grease, lubricant, and other slick substances from the asphalt. Combined, this makes a very slippery surface. When you're driving a car in need of brake repair, it's usually obvious to you and everyone around you. You're not just playing Russian roulette with your safety -- you're playing it with the safety of everyone on the road around you.

Basic Bicycle Maintenance

Most people go out for a bike ride for enjoyment, but don't give enough thought to the prevention of problems that may occur. By just taking a few minutes to make sure your bike is well-tuned before you set out, you can keep from spending hours on issues later.

One of the most important things to purchase along with your bike is a simple tool kit. If the bike salesman doesn't offer you one, make sure to ask for it. The first time you need to use it, you'll be happy you bought it.

How To Replace Brake Pads

So now that you have a sturdy bicycle and a good, basic tool kit, what next? The best thing to do is to perform some routine preventive maintenance before problems come up on the ride.

Basic Bicycle Maintenance

Some bicycles need more maintenance than others. This also depends on your style of riding. For instance, if you occasionally ride through town, your bike won't need as much care as if you ride a mountain bike on trails. But even so, routine checks will benefit the occasional rider as much as the die-hard mountain biker.

The things that need regular checking on a bike are very similar to what a mechanic needs to check on your car.

One of the obvious things to check on both a bike and car are brakes. When you squeeze the brakes on the handlebar of a bike, it causes the brake pads to compress over the metal frame of the wheel. It won't cause you to stop immediately, but will slow you down enough for you to put your feet down.

So regularly make sure that your brake pads are not worn down. Replace them if they are. Also check that the pads are making contact with the metal of the wheel and not the tire itself. If they connect with the wrong part, it could cause you to stop on a dime, which will most likely result in you taking a tumble over the handlebars. Not fun.

Something else that needs to be checked regularly are the wheels. Just like in a car, air pressure in bike tires can change. So make sure you check the pressure and add more air if needed. If a tire has the incorrect amount of air pressure, it will affect your ability to stop. You could also get flats more often when you drive over obstacles because the tire could get pinched around them (this is called pinch flats).

Also keep an eye on your treads. It's very important to have good treads and replace the tire if they are too low.

Check your seat and make sure it hasn't become wobbly. If it has, just tighten it with a wrench from your trusty tool kit.

Make sure your bike chain is not becoming encrusted with grime. If it gets too dirty, it could impact how well it changes gears. And you don't want shifting gears to fail at a time when you are expecting them to work properly, such as when you come to a hill.

So if your chain is becoming too dirty, clean it. The traditional way is to remove it and soak it in a container of solvent. But you can also buy an on-the-bike cleaning machine which clips on the chain and allows it to pass through brushes/solvent without removing the chain first.

Also keep an eye on your bike frame and watch for rust. A small spot of rust can quickly grow and cause weak areas on your frame. To prevent rust, try not to leave your bicycle outside in harsh weather without a waterproof cover on it.

By taking just a little time to do some routine maintenance, you'll lengthen the life of your bike and allow yourself to enjoy a worry-free ride.

GM-Chrysler Merger Would Hurt State Budget

The automotive industry has been smoldered by different types of scorching pandemonium in the past six years - plant closures, job cuts, ailing automaker's reputation and vanishing confidences. Moreover, the state's famished financial system is expected to be significantly hurt by the predicted GM-Chrysler merger.

State officials also expect that job losses and plant closures would continue to increase. This could trigger the decline in income and property tax collectibles and business tax revenues. "Clearly, it's going to have a negative impact losing all those high-paying jobs," said state Treasurer Robert Kleine. "Without doing a study, it's difficult to say how much."

Michigan is battling with an 0-million-plus deficit this year. The said figure could eventually drill a bigger hole in the state's budget for 2008. Kleine said that there is little the state can do to head off a merger. "There's not too much we can do about the business decisions of private companies," he said. Kleine added that there has been some talk about setting up special funds for displaced workers who need retraining or who want to start new businesses should there be layoffs or buyouts.

GM-Chrysler Merger Would Hurt State Budget

James Epolito, the chief executive officer of the Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC), said the state has not been privy to any GM-Chrysler merger talks. "We have not been in any direct discussions of one joining the other," he said. "From my standpoint, it's speculation at this point. Everything is on the table and everything is a possibility."

Epolito said the MEDC is in contact with the auto companies weekly about their business decisions. So if merger talks "were to become more than speculation," Epolito said, "it would make the MEDC uniquely suited to deal with any consolidation of assets" in Michigan.

Michigan's unemployment rate 7.1 percent and it is well above the U.S. average of 4.6 percent. And additional job cuts would greatly injure the economy of the land. The situation is not as simple as losing in a few deals of EBC brake pads - it is totally graver.

Still, there are analysts who consider the coupling of the largest automaker and Chrysler Group as next to impossible. "Anything's possible, but this one seems unlikely," said John Casesa, a longtime auto analyst and managing partner of New York-based Casesa Strategic Advisors LLC pertaining to the GM-Chrysler possible merger. "It would increase exponentially the challenges GM faces in turning around the company. These two companies have an immense amount of overlap in people, plants, dealers and products, and there'll be very considerable cost in working through all that."

"They're not far along enough, in my assessment, to take on something as gigantic as absorbing Chrysler," said Gerald Meyers, a business professor at the University of Michigan and former chairman of the AMC automaker previously acquired by Chrysler.

Wall Street analysts are also skeptical whether the deal is smart for GM to take. "GM already has too many brands that cannibalize each other," added analyst Brad Rubin at investment firm BNP-Paribas. "If you add three more, there's going to be more cannibalization."

In order to ensure that your car is safe to be on the road, you must perform routine maintenance. While most people know about oil changes and brake pad replacements, there are several other things you should consider regularly. A properly maintained car can reduce your risk for automobile accidents and injury.

Monthly

How To Replace Brake Pads

When you raise the hood of your car, if what you see looks as foreign as Arabic, you may want to have a friend familiarize you with your vehicle. If this isn't an option, don't panic. It's not as complex as it may seem.

Routine Vehicle Maintenance

Each month you should inspect your vehicle's lights to make sure they are functioning. To do this, just turn on your car and get out. Walk around, inspecting headlights, tail lights, side lights, and brake lights. In order to check your brake lights, you may need someone else to press the brakes while you look. If no one is around, you can use a heavy rock or brick to apply pressure to the brakes while you investigate. If a light is not working, take your car to the mechanic.

Additionally, each month you should check your tires. Tires with too little air can increase your chances of having a blow-out, as well as reducing your gas mileage. Each tire is printed with a recommended psi. Use a hand tool to determine what level psi your tires are at. If they are too low, go to a gas station and add air until they reach the desired psi.

Another easy monthly check-up you can perform at home is making certain that you have enough windshield wiper fluid. This is a clearly marked container, typically located on the left side of your engine. If the liquid is below the recommended "fill line," add water.

Quarterly

Oil changes vary depending on how frequently and how far you drive your vehicle, but the average person should get their oil changed every three months, or between 3,000 and 5,000 miles. While you are getting your oil changed, ask your mechanic to:

• Rotate your tires

• Check your fluids (power steering and transmission, especially)

• Inspect your belts and hoses

Yearly

While most maintenance needs to be done more than once a year, there are a few things that only require your attention annually, such as:

• Checking your brake pads and fluids. If worn down, replace brake pads

• Steering and suspension

• Spark plugs

• Antifreeze levels. Do this before the first freeze, as this will prevent your liquids from freezing up the engine.

While properly maintaining your vehicle will guarantee its longevity, it can also prevent accidents from occurring.

Stopping the vehicle is one of the essential parts of driving. We have all been driving down the road at one time or another, just to hear the squeaking of breaks that come along with vehicles that are driving by. Sometimes, it's our own vehicles that are making these squeaky brakes. Many drivers are unaware of the problems that can come with squeaking brakes. Mountain bike maintenance can become an obstacle course, if you don't have some basic skills.

Owning a mountain bike - whether you are a serious rider or simply enjoy it as a sport - is an investment in time and money. Protect that investment by learning a few tricks of the trade as far as mountain bike maintenance is concerned.

How To Replace Brake Pads

The first important thing in mountain bike maintenance is very simple: keep your bike clean! Wipe off excess dirt once a week, using a dry cloth or a damp soapy sponge. During wet weather, or with frequent use, it is a good idea to wash your bike after every ride. If you don't do this, you will find that there are a lot of sticky stuff out there that may become unwelcome, permanent fixtures.

Mountain Bike Maintenance - Mechanics 101

Another regular habit you need to adopt as part of mountain bike maintenance, is degreasing the chain and drivetrain. How often you do this depends on how often you ride. It should be done once a month at least, and up to two or three times per month if you ride on a regular basis.

Lubrication of the chain is essential. There are many excellent lubricants on the market. Choose one that suits your needs. Keep in mind that newer lubricants such as White Lightning are self-cleaning, which minimizes mountain bike maintenance.

It is best to apply lubricant the night before you ride. Doing it ten minutes before, prevents it from getting into the chain properly.

As part of mountain bike maintenance, it is vital to maintain the correct air pressure in the tires. Taking care of this small detail will protect your expensive tires. It also prevents frequent tube problems.

Gear cables tend to stretch over time, which makes gear shifting less effective. Gear and brake cables should be checked regularly, and replaced more often than most people realize. New ones should be put in every six to nine months as part of general mountain bike maintenance, and the cable housing should be replaced at the same time.

Another item on you mountain bike maintenance list, is your brake pads. These wear extremely fast. You need to check the alignment of the brake pads against the rims. They should sit squarely on the rim when the brakes are applied.

When relaxed, they should be clear of the sidewall of your tire as it turns. Replace the brake pads when they get to the wear line. Allowing them to go onto the metal casing, will damage your rims.

Check all the nuts and bolts in your monthly mountain bike maintenance routine. Invest in an Allen key or spanner and tighten the loose bolts, such as crank bolts, seatpost bolts, and headset locknuts.

Lastly, one simple way to look after your bike is to keep it under cover, preferably indoors. Don't expose it to the elements any more than necessary.

Be careful when using a bike cover outside. These tend to trap moisture between the cover and the ground, and will cause the steel parts on your bike to corrode more rapidly, giving cause for more mountain bike maintenance than you ever had in mind!

Semi-Metallic Vs Ceramic Brake Pads

Ceramic brake pad linings are a relatively new compound in the automotive industry. Cars first started coming equipped with ceramic brake pads in the early 90's. The ceramic compounds have changed significantly since the first introduction into the marketplace. Initial concerns with the original ceramic compounds focused on the reduced stopping power with cold brakes, and premature wear of the rotors. This was because the original compound was adapted from automotive racing, and when you are racing a vehicle the brakes are being treated in a very different way than during every day driving situations. Tires, brakes and the engine reach a significantly higher operating temperature in race vehicles and this is the temperature that the ceramic components were designed to operate in. The ceramic materials are now more suitable for every day driving and are considered an upgrade regardless of whether the vehicle was originally equipped with semi-metallic, ceramic, or organic pads.

All brake pads perform as required, meaning they stop your vehicle when you put your foot on the brake pedal. That said, while there are advantages with all brake lining compounds the only advantage that the semi-metallic pad offers is an incredibly low price. Alternatively, Ceramic Brake Pads offer some notable advantages. First and foremost, the ceramic pad does not create a visible brake dust that blackens your wheels. If you have wheels that you are proud of, i.e. chrome or wheels that cost more than your vehicle; you will be a big fan of the ceramic brake pad. The second advantage is the reduced tendency to squeal. The ceramic compound does not contain steel fibers; the metal content in some semi-metallic pads was found to be the source of brake squeal for some manufacturers. The ceramic compound also typically lasts longer than a semi-metallic compound, and this is seen as an advantage with most vehicles, because pads normally wear out quicker than the rotors. Finding a perfect balance of wear between rotors and pads, so that rotors need to be replaced at the same time as the pads do, is the ideal situation. Ceramics typically help make this happen, but most vehicles' brake designs are quite different and this is not always the case.

How To Replace Brake Pads

Once you are aware of the differences between the two primary brake pads on the market the choice becomes clear. If you are replacing the brake pads on your daily driver pay the incrementally higher price and purchase the clearly superior ceramic brake pads. If you are only trying to keep that old beater alive for another year then maybe you will find the semi-metallic's to be the a very suitable and certainly more economical choice.

Asbestos is a deadly fiber that seems to have been used in pretty much every industry since its fire retardant, insulating, and strengthening properties were discovered. One of those industries that used the fiber to a more limited degree is the automobile industry. The automobile industry is known to have included asbestos in the clutches, brake pads, and brake linings of their vehicles for years. The clutch, regardless of whether the car has an automatic or standard transmission, is the part of the car that allows the car to shift between its gears. This allows the car to work at higher efficiency in the higher gears. The clutch is a very important piece of a car that is used almost constantly when the car is in use. One of the most important components of any car is the brakes. If these fail, it is more than likely you and your set of wheels will become involved in a nasty accident. However, brakes generally alert the driver to any problems early enough to avoid an unpleasant situation.

Screeching or scraping

Screeching or scraping sounds emitted from the wheels are generally signs that the brakes are either on their last legs or dust and dirt has somehow gotten onto the brake drums. If the noise is evident when you are slowing down and appears to be more prevalent on damp, cold days, then the worst case scenario is the brake pads are wearing thin and need to be replaced. If the noise persists, it may be a good idea to grind down the brake drum in an effort to remove any dust or dirt.

A squeak from the wheels may very well indicate defective drum-brake linings but could also be a direct result of worn suspension bushings. It could even be as simple as the chassis demanding a lube job.

Squeal from the wheel

A 'squeal from the wheel' can be a number of things - underinflated tyres, loose power-steering fan, wheels that need to be realigned or a worn air conditioning compressor belt.

Repetitive thump

A repetitive 'thump' coming from the wheels when travelling at low speeds, especially in the chill of the morning, generally indicates a flat spot on the tyre. Although the sound will disappear once the tyre has warmed up, the simple solution is to replace the offending tyre with steel belt radials.

Escaping air

The sound of escaping air from under the bonnet, particularly noticeable when the car is idling, is almost always an indication that the exhaust manifold gasket has blown. As dangerous carbon dioxide is being released, it is critical that you replace the gasket as a matter of urgency.

Tick-tock like a crazed clock

The sound of ticking, like a crazed clock, from underneath and to the rear of the car whilst it is in motion is generally an indication that the U-joint in the drive shaft is devoid of grease and is about to fail. This is a dangerous phenomenon as it has been well documented that cars can and will literally pole vault right over the affected drive shaft should it fail at high speed. Replace the U-joint as soon as possible and attempt to keep them fully lubricated at all times.

Average Auto Repair Costs

In 1960, the average auto repair cost for a popular midsize car driven for 15,000 miles a year was about $8,053. After a decade, the cost got cheaper and averaged about $7,770. In 2000, that figure went down to $6,880.

Having your vehicle repaired really does mean that you have to shell out some hard-earned cash from time to time. This is the reason why most people try to keep their cars in tiptop shape through regular maintenance. The continued upkeep of a vehicle helps it perform at optimum levels and lessens the risk of a total breakdown. The brake system, which is also comprised of more than a hundred parts, has an average repair cost of $350.

When the cooling system breaks down, you can pay as much as $465 on average to get it fixed. Drive axles and differentials have over 70 parts and the price of their repairs falls between $500 and $1000. Repair costs for your car's electrical systems can reach $800. Troubleshooting your engine costs about $2000. You pay an average of $550 for repairs on the fuel system and $600 for the steering system.

Asbestosis Vs Pleural Plaques

While we now know that asbestos is a carcinogenic material that can cause a variety of different diseases in our bodies, it was once extremely popular and used in everything from vinyl flooring to ceiling tiles in our houses and even brake pads on our cars. Because it can take years for asbestos-related disorders to manifest themselves, things like asbestosis and pleural plaques may now just diagnosed in someone even though asbestos was banned starting in the late 1980s.

Asbestosis and pleural plaques are similar disorders almost solely caused by exposure to asbestos. There are two reasons why asbestos is so bad for our bodies. First, it is a carcinogen, which means it can mutate our DNA so that cells grow and divide rapidly, building into malignant tumors. Also, it cannot be degraded by our bodies. This means that it can become lodged in our tissues from inhalation or ingestion and can remain there forever. Typically, our bodies must create special nodules of tissues surrounding the fibers so that they do not irritate the rest of our system.

Both asbestosis and pleural plaques are characterized by scarring of the lungs due to asbestos fibers lodged in the tissue. The formation of pleural plaques is actually the most common health problem resulting from asbestos exposure because the scarring can be caused even by a short and intermittent exposure to asbestos. Asbestosis tends to result from heavy, long-term exposure to asbestos.

Pleural plaque formation is typically a harmless problem. The asbestos fibers in the lungs cause the formation of fibrosis collagen deposits that appear as white and smooth areas in and around the lungs. These deposits can also become calcified. They are usually detected on a chest x-ray that is performed for a different reason than to check for plaques.

Asbestosis is more severe than the buildup of plaques. The scarring that occurs because of asbestos exposure actually stiffens the lung tissue itself. This prevents it from flexing to expand and contract so that you can breathe normally. Thus, asbestosis is typically discovered when a person has breathing problems. It can cause shortness of breath, coughing, and chest pain. In extreme cases, it can cause finger clubbing.

While pleural plaques are not inherently dangerous, they can signify that you are at risk for developing lung cancer or mesothelioma. On the other hand, asbestosis can cause serious complications such as pulmonary hypertension, heart problems, and cancer also.

Because asbestos exposure is so dangerous and can cause pleural plaques, asbestosis, as well as other dangerous illnesses, it's no surprise that asbestos is now illegal. However, if you or someone you know has developed an asbestos-related disease, you should speak to a lawyer about your rights.

How to Prepare Your Motorcycle to Ride on the Racetrack

Clean your motorcycle. This allows you to double check all key areas to make sure nothing is loose (which will be relevant in step 10.) It also makes it easier to check the motorcycle at technical inspection (the day of the event.)

Remove your center stand. This is for safety on the track. Almost all organizations require center stand removal. This is especially true for the more advanced (and therefore faster) groups. Some organizations and tracks may ask you to also remove your kickstand (side stand.)

Remove or tape up your mirrors. Sometimes removal is not an option, since it may be the only way your fairing is supported. In that case, tape up the mirrors so that if they contact the ground, the glass does not fall out on to the track surface.

Tape up your headlight(s)and signals. This includes the tail light and license plate light. If you can, remove the fuse for the headlight. With the headlight off, it reduces that chance of tape residue sticking to your headlight. Make sure to put the fuse back in before riding on the street again.

Check all of your controls, meaning clutch cable, throttle cable, brake lever, clutch lever, rear brake lever, and kill switch for proper operation. If they fail tech, you will have to get them fixed before you are allowed on the track. Doing it before you get to the track saves you stress if you have to do it while you are at the track. You are anticipating getting on the track and now you have to work on the motorcycle. Very stressful.

When you check your brakes, make sure you have enough brake pads to make it through the event. Riding hard on the racetrack will also cause you to use your brakes even harder. If you have new brakes pads installed before the event, try to get them seated and bedded in before the event.

Check your tires, both for tread wear and depth. Usually new or nearly new tires are required in order to pass tech. Badly worn tires will not pass tech and you may also be able to notice any unusual wear patterns on your tires, which might save you some aggravation early. An example of unusual wear would be bald sides on your front tire with tread in the center. This would indicate low front tire pressure, with the tire (tread) smoothing out while leaned over (turning) but keeping its shape while riding straight up and down.

Check your tire pressures and inspect your rims for damage (see step above.) You will probably have to adjust tire pressures before you get on the track, depending on various factors: your weight, the brand, the temperature, and the track surface. Check with your owner's manual, the track day organization, and your local tire representative for the best pressures for those conditions.

Clean and check your chain for proper slack and lubrication. You should not have a chain that is too loose or too tight. Check your owners manual for proper slack. Also make sure your chain is lubricated to prevent binding.

Make sure all your bodywork is properly supported and fastened. Do not have loose or flapping bodywork, it will fail tech inspection. Try not to have fur or other loose, flapping objects on your motorcycle. You will be asked to have those items removed before you can pass tech inspection and are allowed on the track.

Check your oil level. Try to change the oil if it has been a while to ensure that you have the best engine protection possible. The engine will be working especially hard on the track and dirty oil makes the job harder.

Drain your radiator and replace the glycol based coolant with water and a coolant substitute, such as Water Wetter or Engine Ice. Glycol based coolants are not allowed on the racetrack since they do not evaporate and leave the track surface slick (like oil.)

Secure your wheel weights (taped) on the rims. It prevents them from flying off while you are at high speed.

Make sure you have good valve stems and valve caps on your wheels.

If you have hard point saddle bags, remove the bags. The mounts can usually stay.

If you have auxiliary lights, it is a good idea to remove them. If they are fork mounted, they adversely affect handling and if they are frame mounted, they may become damaged in the event of a dropped bike. If you leave the lights on, tape them up. (If you have an on/off switch, leave them off. If you cannot turn them off, remove the fuse.)

Kawasaki Ninja 250 street fighter walk around 95% done

This is my 2002 Kawasaki Ninja 250 that is now 95% complete. The only thing left to remove are the stock analog gauges... they look ugly, stick out, and just don't flow with the rest of the bike. The chain around the seat is designed to be fully functional and can quickly be removed from the bike. I did all work myself, including hand painting the gas tank. The Nos bottle is a the coolant expansion tank that works with the natural vacuum of the coolant system. The headlights 50 are basic fog lights fit inside a mask. Cut and reshaped the chain guard. Chopped, reshaped and reupholstered the seat. Sub frame was chopped, exhaust was chopped and gutted, bar end mirror, fitted a pocket bike tail onto the bike, created an under tail using sheet metal, LED brake light, mini stalk turn signals, license plate is mounted so that it is perpendicular to the ground when the bike is on its kickstand, license plate bolt lights, accent lights on the mask near headlights, crankcase breather filter, chopped the stock front fender, used truck bed liner to coat the swing arm and frame. New GP Brake Pads front and rear, new fuel lines and filter, custom made battery and electrical box. Removed 25 pounds worth of weight. Carburetor is tuned with 110 keihin (100 mikuni equivalent) main jets, needles raised 6 settings higher (using washers), and pilot screws set at 1.5 turns out (this method may not and probably won't work for your bike as jetting is bike specific) Left to do on the bike: Remove ...

Press Brakes - Learn How to Work Them and Make Them Work For You

To get the most of a tool or piece of equipment, you really need to know how it works. This is true in all lines of work, and for a press brake operator it is no different. Press brakes are wonderful assets to any metal workshop, but only if operated correctly. If they are not, they could end up as expensive pieces of junk. I therefore present to you a few pointers on the proper use of press brakes.

Great drawings = great results
In order for the press brake operator to produce quality parts, she must first have a quality drawing in her hands. A good technical drawing should contain all possible details concerning the part to be manufactured, and the drawing should be made with a specific brake and its tooling in mind, to assure that the part can actually be made on a specific machine. Many specifications of a press brake matter to the work process, and should not be ignored when producing the drawing. For an example, it would not make sense to specify that a part be bent off-center, if this were to exceed the specifications and cause damage to the machine. Drawings must of course contain all necessary measurements, dimensions and tolerances. They should be made by someone who understands the brake, and how a typical work process on it might unfold.

No matter the level of automation a piece of machinery has reached, there will always be a human behind - an operator. That person must have intimate knowledge of the machine; its capabilities and its limits in equal measure. Even bleeding edge press brakes, cnc-controlled and fed by robots - will be worthless if the operator lacks the knowledge to wield the technology. The operator must know, when she sees a drawing for a new part, whether or not the work can be done on her machine. She must know what tooling to use, and in what order. Know whether to use air bending, bottom bending or coining techniques to reach the goal. Knowledge is essential every step of the way, which makes adequate training essential too.

Skimp on the learning, and the quality and productivity will suffer. Knowing the max tons-per-inch limit for instance, could mean the difference between using a press brake to its fullest potential - or exceeding that potential and wrecking the machine by upsetting the ram.

Tooling is another critical subject, and it is up to the operator to choose the right punch and die for the job.
No single combination will do everything, so experience and imagination is required to pick what works best in a given situation. And do remember to check if the tooling is up to its factory specs - unless you want your work to be below par, of course.

Firstly, you need to look at the bike, and look at what kind of condition the bike is in. Look for scratches, or dents, or if the bike has been abused, or if the seat covers have been ripped or torn. If the bike looks slightly damaged, then it is probably best to look at other bikes. If you are able to, look and see if there are any leaks.

One of the most important parts that you need to know when looking for motorcycles for sales, is what type of bike you want. As there are many different types of bikes, and different brands, knowing what you want will help you narrow down the search and will take you half the time to look for you bike. Also consider, what the bike is going to be used for, and how often you will drive it. As this will help you determine what type of bike you are after.

Next, you will need to look at the tires. The tires need to be in good condition, as you don't want to have to replace the tires anytime soon, because of the damage that has been done to them. There shouldn't be all that much wear and tear to them. They should still be in reasonably good condition.

Next, what you will need to do is look at the brakes. The pad of the breaks, shouldn't be cracked, and there should be a quarter of an inch of the pad left as well. If the bike has breaks that doesn't have good grip, or if it squeals, then you may need to discuss this with a professional.

When you look at motorcycles for sale, you shouldn't just look at the price. You need to look at the overall bike and the condition it is in before purchasing it.
